Although the regulatory authority endeavors ambitious efforts to maintain the financial stability, the financial institutions still fail in familiar ways by taking excessive concentrations of credit risk or suffer unexpected loss from overloaded risk exposures. Whether there is a better way to regulate the financial sector is a controversial issue in international financial law. This issue is particular significance after a financial crisis of 2008-2009. This research paper will begin in the Part II by describing the challenges of financial regulation faced by policymakers and supervisory authority. Then, this paper also analyzes the current developments in Taiwan. Part III will discuss the controversial issues in financial supervision and point out the myth of current issues, and introduce the modified model and new approaches adopted recently by regulatory authority in Taiwan. Finally, this paper emphasizes financial reform is a never-ending process, and several decisions to complex dilemma for resolution policy must be made.
